X modifie le fonctionnement de son bouton de blocage

Change block function to X
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has been critical of the blocking feature on the X platform. Now, the platform is changing its approach to blocking, even if it doesn’t exactly align with Musk’s proposal to remove the feature altogether.

Increased transparency and visibility
Prior to these changes, users could block someone on X and continue to reply to their posts. However, the blocked person couldn’t see this reply and didn’t even know that the person who blocked them was interacting with their post. x decided to change this method. Now, even if a user is blocked, they will still be able to see direct replies to their posts.
A commitment to transparency
X’s engineering team said in a post that this change is part of their “ongoing commitment to aligning the blocking feature with our principles as a public square.”

Possibility of future changes
The same article hints at the possibility of more changes to the blocking feature in the future. Recall that blocking is one of the most widely used security features on the platform, and that the goal of Team X (formerly Twitter) is to “allow users to control their experience while keeping posts visible to the public.”

So these changes seem far from radical. In fact, they may even be seen as an improvement by some users who want to better understand what is being said about them on the platform. However, these changes could just be a harbinger of greater turmoil to come.
